How to Play Baccarat

A guide with hints, tips and strategy ideas to help you win when you play Baccarat online

Baccarat is an easy game to master, it really is simple to play and pretty good fun to boot. There is a low edge for the house which adds to the popularity of the game - any game that seems to give the player an added advantage is always a bonus. Because it is so simple, it is easy to master and we can find the game on all the partners we recommend on casino-options.net

Two hands are dealt in this game, one for the player and one for the banker. You can also bet on the tie, but we will come to that shortly. All the cards have a value. The picture cards (and 10) all count zero. All the other numbered cards count face value, including the ace which only counts as 1. If the value of you hand totals more than 10, then you subtract 10, so a 9 and 5 hand counts 4.

The aim of the game is to get as close as you can to 9 to win each hand. You make you bet by placing your stake - some casino's will let you go as low as £1 stake, others may limit the stake to a £10 minimum. Perhaps this has something to do with the game having a reputation for being for high rollers in casino's?

The value of your hand is determined by adding the value of your cards as per the scoring alluded to above. Once the players two cards total 6 or more, then the player must stand without drawing a further card. If the players cards total 5 or less then he must draw one additional card. If the banker's first two cards total 7 or more then the banker must stand without drawing another card. If the bankers first two cards total 0,1 or 2 then the banker must draw one further card. If the bankers first two cards total 3,4,5 or 6 then whether the banker draws another card is determined by whether the player drew, and if so, what the value of the players draw card was.

The 3rd card rules are as follows: If the Player's two cards total:

Hand

 Draw?

0-5

 Players Hand Must Draw

6-7

 Players Hand Must Stand

8-9

 "Natural" (Both Hands Stand)

After the Player's Hand acts on a third card draw, the Banker's Hand receives a third card according to these rules:

 Draw?

0-2

 Banker's Hand Must Draw

3-6

 Third card to Player's hand

When the Banker's two cards total between 3-6:

Banker's Hand

Banker's hand draws  when Player's third card  is:

Banker's hand does not  draw when Player's third  card is:
